farmer connect® aims to help the food and beverage supply chain evolve into a collaborative data-driven model connecting participants at every level. We’re seeking a qualified business development/sales manager to help us sell the products and services that help improve the lives of farmers around the world. Our ideal salesperson has a solid network within the food and beverage industry, a strong understanding of the sales process, and excels at generating leads, building relationships, and closing deals. We’re seeking a quick and adaptative person with strong listening and negotiating skills, and someone with presence who can showcase our offerings in a compelling way. Often tasked with giving presentations, attending networking events, and participating in trade shows, it’s essential that our new team member be approachable and professional. Her or his efforts will help us extend our global reach and impact.

Objectives of this Role

  • Represent our company, with a comprehensive understanding of our offerings
  • Maximize the sales pipeline performance by establishing strong relationships and gaining insight to the needs of the client
  • Generate leads and commit to customer service by building relationships
  • Meet weekly, monthly, and annual sales and activity objectives
  • Adjust sales techniques based on interactions and results in the field
  • Perform incisive and insightful market and competitive research
  • Intuitive understanding of software, technology products and services


  • Qualify, develop, and maintain thorough company and product knowledge, research consumer needs, and identify how our solutions can meet them
  • Generate leads and grow existing relationships, maintaining an accurate, detailed client book, and developing an active, repeat customer base
  • Make cold calls or perform warm outreach, putting outside-the-box thinking to work to develop new and unique sales tactics
  • Utilize our CRM to ensure standard processes during all sales stages
  • Issue sales pipeline reports
  • Work with the CEO to design industry-specific outbound efforts (comms)
  • Work with the CEO on offering and pricing strategy (marketing)


  • 5 years in Business Development/Sales within a Food and Beverage (Food commodities market knowledge), Supply chain, Trading and/or Software setting (SAAS model preferably)
  • Strong personal and decision-making level network in the Food and Beverage industry
  • Experience closing enterprise level deals
  • Ability to analyze business opportunities and read situations well
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, telephone, writing, PowerPoint and organizational skills
  • Experience working with Capsule, Salesforce, or other Sales CRM softwares
  • Ability to travel at least 50% of the time


  • Bachelor’s degree
  • Proven success rate at levels above quotas
  • Start-up experience
  • Strong organizational skills
  • International background and experience
  • Must be fluent in English; other languages (FR, ES, PT, DE, JP, CN) are a plus
  • Preferred location: Geneva, with Swiss working permit. Remote location can be considered
  • Start Date: ASAP
